I rarely ever make it up to full splits in my practice, but the great thing about yoga asana is you never have to hit the peak pose. I practice a lot of low lunges, lizard and hip mobility poses which allow me to get into poses like this #extendedcamelpose which ultimately is on its way to becoming a split, but never has to get there. If you practice the basics, you might surprise yourself one day with just how flexi you can become! Remember it takes consistency in anything, but mostly in flexibility work - especially if you are strengthening a lot. 2x flexibility for 1x strengthening and you’re on your way to a more mobile body! Arrived to Koh Yao Noi, one of the last islands in Thailand that barely has any tourists on it! Only 4500 locals live here and they just opened their first mainstream store, a 711 just last year It’s been amazing learning about all the different kinds of plants and how locals use them to get by on the island.

This pose was an interesting one to do. I guess this is like a half lotus chair pose with a side backbend. The arm variation and hand clasp also adds a really cool and new rotation in the shoulders and arms. Let me know if you try it out!

It’s an interesting thing, mixing yoga with Instagram/social media. I do like how this leo works with the background found and also it was really hot so it just made sense. Would I flow in this leo at home? Probably not haha (although sometimes at home I practice in less ).

Where I’m going with this is, photos on IG are completely staged. Clothes are chosen, locations, negative space is found, and lighting at certain points of the day. As a Graphic Designer and {amateur} photographer, this stuff excites me. So I choose to showcase what I learn in my everyday practice in beautiful locations, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Just like there is nothing wrong with shooting at home in whatever you want to wear.

Yesterday we went hiking up El Faro - it was supposed to be a 30 minute hike, but we cut that time in half running up to catch the sunrise. Which sucked because there were so many cats to stop and pet #crazycatldayproblems It was soooo worth it though, were going to head up again tomorrow! I’m loving Mazatlan I’ll definitely be back!
