This particular portrait is noteworthy for depicting the Queen's wrinkles and was mentioned in two stories in the @telegraph by @hannahjbetts and Rachel Ray in 2013 when the painting went on display.
The portrait this recreation is made from is by Marcus Gheeraerts and was displayed at the Folgers Shakespeare Library @folgerlibrary - was owned at the time by @elizabethangardens .

The particular version was last sold by @sothebys in 2012 for around 2.8 million USD. Full-length versions of the painting are at @historicroyalpalaces (Hampton Court Palace, London) and @museelouvre (Louvre, Paris).
Edward VI is the third Tudor monarch and succeeded Henry VIII to be the King of England from 1547 to 1553. He was the son of Henry VII and Jane Seymour.

Recreating The Tudors, Part 2: Is this what Henry VIII looked like? I'm using machine learning to create this experiment from a 480-year-old painting by Hans Holbein in 1540. The original painting is part of the masterpiece collection at @barberinicorsini in Rome.
Henry VIII was the second Tudor monarch and was King of England from 1509 to 1547. Of the painting, the Barberini Corsini describes, "the subject’s frontal pose, his sumptuous clothes and jewelry, and his gaze staring out at the viewer all stamp the portrait with a vivid image of Henry’s grandeur and power." Does he have the same grandeur in a recreation photo?

Recreating The Tudors, Part 5: What did Anne Boleyn look like? Here are three recreations of her made with AI and based on a painting in the National Portrait Gallery. Which one do you think looks like Anne?
These images are created using a library I've assembled that uses the structure of an input image (the painting of Anne) and then applies different, fadable random colors of skin, eye, hair, and lighting to create different possible outputs (the recreations).
On Anne: Her beheading was ordered by her husband, Henry VIII. There is a good deal of writing and debate about the topic of Anne's appearance amongst historians. Descriptions of her by her opponents during her life make her out to be an ugly 6-fingered monster, while she is represented as beautiful in modern television; portrayed by Natalie Dormer in The Tudors. A Venetian diplomat described her at 21 as "Not one of the handsomest women in the world; she is of middling stature, swarthy complexion, long neck, wide mouth, a bosom not much raised and eyes which are black and beautiful."
