Your Great Letters - 6

  • 40
As we mentioned yesterday, we’ve now received more than 50,000 letters from all of you during these past two years. Once again, THANKS VERY MUCH! Here are some answers to a few of the more recent emails.

Q: "You used to be very fat when you first moved here to this country. Was it hard to lose 25 kilos?" Majda

A: Hello, Majda, thanks for asking about this, I appreciate it.

To say I was "fat," is an understatement. Since I’m not one of those "politically correct" guys, let’s just be blunt here and admit the truth: I was NOT "fat," I was obese.

Losing this weight was not hard, the biggest change I had to make (which was largely common sense) was to stop eating what we call the "All American DIEt."

It was little things, like cutting back on the number of sodas I would drink each week, not eating deep fried foods, and making sure I didn’t eat after 8:00PM or especially before going to bed.

Q: "When Czechs no longer need to have a visa to visit America, will we have to get medical shots?" Linda

A: "Hi, Linda. Thanks for your kind emails during these past few months, they’re much appreciated.

I called the U.S. Embassy and asked them about this, they said it should "make NO difference."

Just because visas will not be required for Czechs to visit America soon, this issue has no bearing on any medical issues nor the need to get what are called traveller’s shots or injections against various kinds of flu like some people do when they travel to other parts of the world.

As far as overall medical insurance goes, it is always a prudent thing to have adequate medical coverage whenever you are especially abroad.

If you find yourself in a medical emergency, try to say "yes" or "no" to everyone’s questions and make sure you understand ALL issues and prescribed medications clearly.
